Design Charrette

Most of our planning and design projects include a Design Charrette that can range from 2 - 10 days depending on the size and scope of the project and amount of public participation. Our typical Design Charrette is a multi-day workshop engaging planners, architects, engineers, market analysts, city staff and officials, and various stakeholders to develop a cohesive vision.

Working as a whole group for some activities and in specified teams for others, TSW focuses on creating sustainable places while considering:

  • Connectivity and circulation
  • Zoning and land uses
  • Retail and housing options
  • Development identity
  • Architectural character and scale
  • Key building placement
  • Historical sensitivity
  • Public open spaces
  • Environmental opportunities and constraints
  • Infrastructure systems
  • Regulatory tools and policy for implementation

The Design Charrette typical concludes with a presentation to stakeholders to gather feedback about the final concept plan and the overall process.
