The Stockbridge Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) Study 10-Year Update is a community-based effort to prepare a plan for the future of Stockbridge’s core and nearby areas. It builds upon the work of a previous LCI study from 2001, which must now be reexamined in the light of today’s current economy and changing community needs.

The 2001 LCI identified a strong desire on the part of Stockbridge stakeholders to preserve and protect the city’s neighborhoods. Accordingly, this update will focus on identifying opportunities for growth and redevelopment within the community’s commercial areas, including along SR 138 and the greater town center area. In addition, it will explore opportunities to connect these areas to other parts of the city with sidewalks, trails, and community-scaled roadway improvements.

As the plan is developed between now and March 2012, meaningful public involvement will be key to its success. The City of Stockbridge and the consultant team are committed to an open, honest, and inclusive planning process grounded in a respect for the opinions of all Stockbridge stakeholders. Only by giving everyone an opportunity to help shape the future of the community can a lasting and sustainable vision for Stockbridge’s future be achieved.
